Number 1 Health Problem Teens Hate - Acne
by Christopher Wen

Acne, or pimples, strikes those in their teens most often. Girls usually start to get acne when they reach puberty age and start producing female hormones. That is about age 11 to 13. As for boys, they start getting acne at about the age of 12 or even later, somewhere around 14 or 15. That is because boys mature later than girls. And the most horrible thing for teens will definitely be the ongoing battle with the acne, as the acne issue can affect teens for quite some time without going away.
A few of the common things teens face during the puberty age are blackheads and whiteheads. There is also a high occurrence of inflammatory lesions. All these will worsen the development of acne with teens. Why is it that teens are more prone to acne then? Well teenagers life is an exciting one, with teen active in school, outdoor activities, and social lives. They may neglect the proper care and attention needed for their skin and therefore worsen the condition. With hormonal change during puberty, this will also complicate the acne condition.
The life of a teen is a complicated, as he or she starts to explore the many other aspects of life. The addition of acne issues makes the life of a teen even more complex. Appearance among peers to a teen is very important. One might feel inferior due to the fact the one's appearance does not look nice. Popularity contest among teenagers is very common and so acne is the last thing one ever wants to see.
So it is top priority for teens to find a simple, efficient, and fast way to solve acne problems. To a teen, solving the acne issue as quickly as possible can help to build self esteem. A combination of oral and off the shelve acne products can work quite well for teens. Parents also play an important role here. It is important for parents to have a good dialogue with their children so that can understand their children's condition better and help to find a solution to the acne problem.
However, some parents feel that acne is not a big problem at all. To them, they might feel that their children are overacting, or that acne does not need to be treated at all as it is just some minor beauty problem and that their children are too young to be concern about cosmetic issues. But of course, to their children, it is a big problem! Other parents may feel that acne is just an age-related condition and it will disappear when the kid grow older. Well, this may or may not be so true. For some, it might just be a small health issue, but for a few cases where one has serious acne outbreak, acne can leave behind permanent scars that cannot go away or even serious disfiguring condition in extreme conditions.
Therefore, it is important to point out that for acne issues concerning teens, one should try to control the acne condition from getting too serious. On the other hand, teens should not let this acne issues from affecting their social life. Appearance is only just one aspect of life. There is definitely a lot more than just appearance. So, do not ever let acne defeat you in spirit!
